We are watching the Palin/McCain ticket self-destruct.

(September 24, 2008) - McCain’s Bottom Line: No Deal = No DebateA senior campaign official says that McCain will NOT debate — no matter what — if Congress hasn’t reached an agreement on a bailout package.
The aide did not know whether Gov. Palin would attend Oct. 2’s vice presidential debate if Congress, by that point, still hasn’t reached a deal.
Barack, if he doesn’t show up on Friday, you show up anyway. Â Give a one-hour speech or take the questions from the moderators, and INSIST that they leave the empty podium standing where McCain should be.
Let the grumpy old man hold his breath and turn blue.

You’re right, Russ. What is McCain thinking? Appearing in a debate is far more important than heading off the next great depression. How stupid of him.
This was the foreign policy debate, and McCain was going to clean the clock of a Teleprompterless Obama. Don’t worry, the last debate is scheduled for 10/1 4. Plenty of time to work out the schedule.
And by the way, how dare McCain suggest that he and Obama actually do the jobs they were elected to do. Or did Obama resign and I just missed it?

Oh, puh-lease! Sen. McCain is not in charge of the banking committee, Sen. Dodd is. Ranking Repug is Sen. Shelby. Word is that when everyone attended Bush’s “cover McCain’s butt for chickening out of debates” meeting, Pelosi and Reid deferred to Obama, who laid out the Demo plan, and when the GOP turn came up, McCain sat there like a deaf-mute for 45 minutes.
McCain was the one supporting all the deregulation of the financial industry along with his buddy Phil “Nation of Whiners” Gramm that led to this “next Great Depression”. They were the ones undoing the laws made after the first Great Depression, after we learned the hard way that unfettered capitalistic greed is a bad thing.
And what, McCain can’t multi-task? If the economy goes to hell, he’ll have to call “time-out” on the war?
Oooh, McCain would’ve “cleaned his clock”, if only this entirely foreseeable disaster hadn’t taken place. Yeah, and I would’ve kicked Lennox Lewis’ ass in the ring, if only he didn’t retire before I got the chance. It’s easy to talk big, it’s harder to actually show up.
And you know that the debate, while pegged to foreign policy, would’ve addressed the economic crisis as well. Jim Lehrer’s no fool.
And your reliance on the wispy belief that Obama can’t work without a teleprompter is flippin’ hilarious having watched Sarah Palin’s interviews with Katie Couric.
Obama will “clean John McCain’s clock” in a foreign policy debate. McCain was itchin’ for Iraq war, Obama was decrying it. McCain was implying that Saddam was behind anthrax, we now know it was US borne. McCain truly believed there were WMD in 2002 and 2003. His VP thinks “perhaps so” that we should war with Russia. McCain can’t distinguish Sunni from Shia. McCain can’t handle basic Middle East geography. McCain thinks Czechoslovakia still exists. My friends, this is a stubborn, senile old man whose entire reason for being is to perpetuate war. A noun, a verb, and POW.
I don’t think it’s McCain who’s chickening out of a debate. I think he wants to push ahead the schedule in order to cancel the VP debate with Miss South Carolina.
