I’m enjoying the show today here on KPOJ on Sunday which I assume is a taped show.
– Regarding the Republicans stealing the election — it’s going to be Pennsylvania this time, right?
How else can one explain McCain emphasis there? It’s a solidly Blue state that he has no hope of winning honestly.
– Regarding blaming Bill Clinton for NAFTA
I _think_ you said that you were disappointed with Clinton at the time. We’re you disappointed back then, or only much later?
I consider myself progressive and opposed the the Telecommunication Act, The Patriot Act and the Iraq war — FROM DAY ONE.
But NAFTA? I can’t say that I saw this one coming. I don’t think it was just me — I don’t remember a huge liberal objection to it at the time. I remember a union opposition back then but I don’t remember a large opposition from the Democrats or progressives.
I remember having some nagging doubts about it but a lot of us were reading Alvin Tofflers “Third Wave” and were propogandized to believed that NAFTA would keep America _on top_ of the new economy. I, myself, hoped that NAFTA would boost the economy of Mexico which, I believe, is the only long term solution to illegal immigration.
So, I always get a little suspicious when people claim to have been against NAFTA all along.
