How Can Prohibition of Marijuana Burn Down Your Neighborhood?

The Prohibition War touches everyone in America, regardless if they smoke marijuana or even know anyone who smokes marijuana. On a rare occasion, the guy who set up a grow house next to yours might not be the best electrician in the world, and his uninspected amateur wiring can catch fire and risk burning down your home, too.

Has lax regulation of California medical marijuana lowered statewide support for legalization?

A new poll in California shows that while support for marijuana legalization is rising to 50% – 58% nationwide, legalization still does not have majority support in the state most known for medical marijuana.

Five warehouses and parking lots owned by the popular Sabritas brand were attacked over the weekend in the states of Michoacan and Guanajato. Witnesses said masked men had thrown firebombs and incinerated warehouses and dozens of delivery trucks. No one was injured in the bombings, according to authorities.

El Paso voters ousted Rep. Sylvestre Reyes in a Democratic primary, in favor of the council member who had pushed for a resolution calling on the feds to discuss legalization of drugs, Beto O’Rourke.

Five Wives Vodka Banned in Idaho as Offensive to Mormons… who don’t drink!

Montana’s Supreme Court to hear medical marijuana appeals this week, fees increase 200% Friday

In order to curb what they considered “abuse” of medical marijuana, primarily described as just “too many” patients, the legislature repealed the entire medical marijuana program, only to be saved at the last instant by Gov. Brian Schweitzer’s veto stamp. In response, the legislature crafted a new law that our community calls “Repeal Lite” and it was allowed to become law.

Booming car stereo leads to police recovery of stolen handgun, marijuana

I never like to see anybody get busted for marijuana… but getting busted for some illegal guns because of failing to politely turn down one’s stereo in the city, that’s some police work I can support.

Majorities in every demographic tell Obama to leave medical marijuana alone!

A new poll commissioned by the Marijuana Policy Project has found that a majority of everybody in America wants President Obama to leave the states alone if they have legalized medical marijuana. Almost fifteen out of twenty (74%) Americans surveyed agreed that President Obama should “respect the medical marijuana laws in these states” and only three in twenty (15%) believed the president should “use federal resources to arrest and prosecute individuals who are acting in compliance with state medical marijuana laws”.

Are NFL’s Detroit Lions’ recent criminal headlines making them the new Oakland Raiders?

Not only do they feature the infamous “Black Hole” fans, crazed hooligans that occasionally stab fans of rival teams, but their players often had reputations ranging from petty criminal to violent pscyho. But these days, the Silver and Black are falling behind in the mug shot department to the Silver and Blue, and it’s not just marijuana busts the Detroit Lions players are involved in (though there is a lot of that) but this time, real crimes that could hurt innocent people.

When you close dispensaries, car-jackings of marijuana delivery drivers follow

A woman who was delivering medical marijuana near San Diego’s borders with La Mesa and Lemon Grove was shot in the face with a pellet gun and carjacked, San Diego police said Saturday. The irony, of course, is that these localities that fret about and shut down medical marijuana dispensaries do so because they fear the criminals who might rob the stores loaded with money and marijuana.

I just wanted to bring back this audio clip, a blast from the past, to remind folks that while HuffPo and Penn Jillette are just starting to make this kind of noise, I’ve noted for a long time: Mr. President, you were just one bust away from being Barry the Drug Criminal.

Why pot made me miss my niece’s high school graduation

When my conservative friends like to go on about (straight traditional Judeo-Christian) family values, I wonder if they know there are families separated because of a stupid prohibition on one herb? Nutmeg is highly hallucinogenic, nightshade will kill you, poison oak is obnoxious, but no, THAT one, cannabis, is God’s mistake and must be eradicated by armed police working overtime, and you must be caged if you use it!
