Connecticut becomes the 17th medical marijuana state

With the stroke of a pen Connecticut state Governor, Dannel Malloy signed legislation into law last Friday that makes medical marijuana legal in the state of Connecticut.

This is just the latest in an upset election that can be traced to a candidate’s pro-marijuana stance as opposed to their opponents anti-marijuana stance.

Sadly, the first major American city to decriminalize marijuana back in the 70’s is also the marijuana arrest capital of the world today. New York City has an ugly history of arresting people for small amounts of marijuana in the decriminalized city by stopping them and asking them to empty their pockets. The practice has become known as the “stop and frisk” and it’s practice has lead to overwhelmingly racist crime statistics in the Big Apple.

Our guest today is Paul Stanford, the director of The Hemp & Cannabis Foundation, or THCF. He is also the chief petitioner behind the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act. Coinicidentally, a website called The Daily is reporting today that the IRS has now placed $2.7 million in tax liens on Stanford’s business.
