Major processor for Visa and Mastercard will no longer handle medical marijuana dispensary business

The main national company that handles credit card processing services, Electronic Merchant Systems, will no longer accept Visa and MasterCard transactions from dispensaries. This change is effective on July 1st.

Rodney King, whose beating by police sparked LA Riots, found drowned at age 47

We learned about the death of Rodney King this weekend. King was beaten by police officers and that was taped by a citizen witness. The acquittal on assault charges for the officers sparked the deadly LA riots in 1992.

Initiatives to legalize marijuana are on the ropes in Oregon

With just 63,804 valid signatures, OMPI has only 54.87% of the 116,284 valid signatures needed to put the amendment on the November ballot. Activists have less than three weeks to collect 52,480 more signatures. With a turn-in validity of 52.15%, that really means another 100,633 signatures are needed.
