The latest Survey USA poll numbers for Oregon are out and the initiative to legalize marijuana in Oregon seems to have lost some support.
Support for Measure 80 is registered at 36% among likely Oregon voters, down from the 37% support found in the Survey USA poll from September. Opposition to the legalization measure increased to 43% from 41% in the prior poll.
There still remains more than one in five Oregonians who are unsure how they will vote on the measure. Undecideds dropped from 22% in the prior poll to 21% in this recent poll.
The only demographic group showing majority support for the measure are self-described liberals at 60%. Support among young people and Democrats only reaches 45%, among Independents it is 48%. And surprisingly, fewer in the Portland area (35%) support Measure 80 than the rest of the state (40%).
Oregon is a completely vote-by-mail state and ballots went out today. Will the one-in-five who are undecided choose legalization? Measure 80 needs three-out-of-five undecideds to vote YES to pass legalization. You can get involved by visiting Oregonians for Law Reform now.
