Marijuana IS safer than alcohol. But that’s not why it should be legal.
We shouldn’t regulate drugs because they are safe, we should regulate them because they are potentially harmful.

In Kentucky, a recent emergency law passed to curb prescription drug abuse known as the “pill mill bill” is teaching some users legal prescription drugs what it feels like to be called a “druggie” and be forced to prove their innocence.
What Gov. Christie and the rest of the “Kinder Gentler Drug Warriors” can’t comprehend is that most people who use drugs do so like most people who use alcohol: occasionally, responsibly, have a good time, and then go back to being productive members of society.

Sadly, the first major American city to decriminalize marijuana back in the 70’s is also the marijuana arrest capital of the world today. New York City has an ugly history of arresting people for small amounts of marijuana in the decriminalized city by stopping them and asking them to empty their pockets. The practice has become known as the “stop and frisk” and it’s practice has lead to overwhelmingly racist crime statistics in the Big Apple.
Idaho has some of the country’s harshest laws for marijuana consumers. Just being in a room where someone has pot – whether you see it or smoke it or not – is a misdemeanor worthy of three months in prison. Just being high in public is worth six months. Having one of those bongs – whether you’ve used it or not – is worth a year of your life.
