“Radical” Russ: Quarterfinalist – America’s Next Great Progressive Talk Radio Star

Remember last week how I told y’all I won the Progressive Talk Radio Contest on Portland’s local Air America affiliate, AM 620 KPOJ?

Well, I have just been informed that I made the cut for the national quarterfinals. I’ll be on the air live tomorrow, competing against 12 other contestants nationally, at 10:40am Eastern / 7:40am Pacific. I get five minutes to “rant about whatever I want”. I’ll be glad to take suggestions here.

You can listen on your local Clear Channel progressive talk station (but not here in Portland, I don’t think), or you can listen over the web at TalkProgress.com.

This is all happening very fast… so fast I haven’t had time to get really excited about it yet. That’s probably a good thing.

This week, our headliner is someone you’ve never heard of who wrote hits you’ve definitely heard of, Mark James. We’ll take you to the Amphitheater for some experimental music from India and Germany. We’ve got some Texas pop-punk and California stoner rock in the Mosh Pit. We dedicate a new stage for Opera, featuring tenors from Peru and Czech Republic. We’ll open up the Country Bunker for some traditional Irish fiddle. We’ve got traditional French chant and French torch song in Le Cabaret. We’ll close up shop this week at the Festival Stage in Brazil.

We’ll go fully International with artists from Indonesia and Malaysia. We’ll head to the Amphitheater for a pair of pianists from Poland and Japan by way of Sweden, then wind things up in the Jazz Cellar once again in Sweden and then New Zealand.
