OK, so the country girl, Carrie Underwood, won the 4th American Idol, leaving my favorite, Bo Bice, as the runner-up.

Perfect.

See, now Carrie is stuck in that 1-year Idol contract and has to sing that gawdawful “Inside Your Heaven” song as her debut single. (A hideous song, which would have been made worse if Bo had to sing it; a male voice wanting to get inside your “heaven” is a little too much of a double entendre, don’t you think?)

But Bo is not beholden to such a contract. He does have to go out on that Idol Tour, but after that he’s got much more freedom to produce his first album. I don’t doubt that we’ll see Bo on the charts. Placing 2nd didn’t seem to hurt Clay Aiken’s career.

As for Carrie, she can go and make more Shania-lite music that thirteen-year-old red state girls will go nutty for.
