Any fellow tribesman lower in the pecking order might easily be jealous of the top guy’s position and perks, and want to topple him. If this challenger was young and strong, he might eventually grow to be capable of doing it physically. If not, not. But …
If he was CLEVER, he might see the fear of that tribesman, and others, in natural forces, and he might find a way to get himself connected in tribal minds with those awesome powers. Mighty Wotz might have the biggest club, but if little Glotz SPEAKS TO THE LIGHTNING, there would be times when Glotz might be scarier and more impressive than merely-human Wotz.”
