On Saturday, August 14, 2021, IdahoWay officially launched the 2022 campaign for the Personal Adult Marijuana Decriminalization Act (PAMDA) at the Boise Hempfest.
At the PAMDA table we collected over 400 signatures for the PAMDA initiative, as well as over 400 signatures for Kind Idaho‘s Idaho Medical Marijuana Act (IMMA) initiative.
“People were very excited to sign the PAMDA,” explains Russ Belville, Chief Petitioner of PAMDA, “they came from all across the park asking if this is where they can sign to ‘legalize the drive.'”
PAMDA will require 65,000 signatures collected from all 35 legislative districts to make the November 2022 ballot. If passed by the people of Idaho, PAMDA will legalize the purchase of up to three ounces of marijuana products from legal dispensaries over the border by Idaho adults 21 and older, who must them take the sealed products immediately back to their homes or other private property with the permission of the owner.
PAMDA specifically does not legalize marijuana shops, marijuana grows, marijuana commerce, marijuana advertising, marijuana use or possession in public, or marijuana use by minors.
PAMDA also protects the rights of responsible Idaho adults who follow the law, such as rights to driving, housing, employment, medical treatment, child custody, and firearms.
