Remember back in March I had a post entitled No Gays Allowed in the NFL”? The post was about how the online purchase form for the customized NFL jerseys would not allow you to place “GAY” on the back of the jersey as a player name, despite the fact that New England has a player named Randall Gay. Other banned words included “LESBIAN”, “GOD”, and “SATAN”. What struck me odd at the time is that “GAY” and “LESBIAN” were banned, but not “FAG” & DYKE”.

Perhaps they were just planning ahead for someone who may have those names in the future. I’m watching the Sunday Night game last night and it turns out that the Houston Texans have a defensive back named Demarcus Faggins. I dare say that’s got to be a tougher name to grow up with than Randall Gay. It could only be tougher if you’ve got that name and you’re picked to play the lead in “The Lord of the Rings” (“…and starring Demarcus Faggins as Frodo Baggins!”)
