Apparently all of this blogging is starting to pay off. As you know, I’ve been a frequent guest on the ORNORML Cannabis Community Forum. I’ve also been active on their forums, adding my collections of marijuana newsbriefs as I find them, plus I’ve been active in the marches, demonstrations, and letter-writing campaigns. I even donate money monthly to the Marijuana Policy Project, National NORML, and Oregon NORML. (OK, so it’s only $5/month to each, but that buys 13.5 stamps a month!)
Anyway, the Executive Director of Oregon NORML, Madeleine Martinez, has asked me to join the Board of Directors! I couldn’t be more thrilled! I moved from Idaho to Oregon for the express purpose of becoming more politically involved in a place where I felt I could make a difference.
Napoleon Dynamite wasn’t kidding: I voted for Pedro, and all my wildest dreams are coming true!
I’m going to take it slow, maybe sit in on a meeting, meet the other board members, and figure out first how I can manage the time, but otherwise I believe I should soon be on my very first Board of Directors. HOO-AH! I’m excited, as ORNORML is leading the national charge for the regulation of responsible marijuana use by adults. National NORML cites our OMMP (Oregon Medical Marijuana Program) as the blueprint and gold standard for state medical marijuana programs, and we have the most tolerant regulations and limits for providing medical cannabis to seriously ill and injured people. We’re also in the forefront of legalizing the farming of industrial hemp to provide everything you can get from a tree or a barrel of oil, as well as providing a lucrative cash crop for our farmers. I can’t wait to be a part of a serious organization dedicated to change and progress in eradicating this insane War on (Some American Citizens Using Non-Pharmaceutical, Non-Alcoholic, Tobacco-Free) Drugs!
We now return you to my regularly scheduled barking-moonbat, bleeding-heart, blame-America-first, lefty-loonie, Bush-bashing, liberal blogging, already in progress…
