Join me in an effort to get the so-called liberal media to recognize and report on the importance of the Downing Street Memo, the smoking gun that proves Bush & Blair were determined to invade Iraq as early as 2002 and they lied and fixed intelligence to justify their invasion. My letter to Peter Jennings of ABC News is below:
Mr. Jennings,
I have long appreciated your career as a journalist and find your reporting, and that of ABC News, to be top-notch. Nevertheless, I write to you today to address your appalling lack of coverage regarding an issue that raises questions about the Administration’s motives prior to the invasion of Iraq, and perhaps even rising to the level of treasonous actions by our president.
The Times of London released memoranda that seems to implicate British Prime Minister Tony Blair and President George Bush in a conspiracy to “fix” intelligence to support an invasion of Iraq; that invading Iraq was the first option of this administration even as they told us “war was a last resort”; and that Blair and Bush were both well aware that Iraq posed no threat to their nations or its neighbors. The so-called “Downing Street Memo”, however, has received so little attention in your newscast that its conspicuous absence makes me question the loyalties of you and your news division. Has the GOP managed to co-opt the entire Fourth Estate along with the Executive, Legislative, and most of the Judicial branches of government?
In light of the revelation of Watergate’s “Deep Throat”, a case where determined journalists spoke truth to power, it seems very ironic that the mainstream media are not reporting on this “smoking gun” in a conspiracy that makes Watergate pale by comparison. The “Downing Street Memo” is the biggest story of this presidency and should be given as much attention as the Whitewater Investigations of the previous presidency. Perhaps more attention; nobody died as a result of President Clinton’s scandal.
Please investigate and inform your viewers about the Times of London’s “Downing Street Memo”. Thank you.
