I disappeared off the blogosphere for day again, didn’t I? Well, there’s good reason. I’ve been working on a little database nugget called the Conservative Values Monitor. It would have taken me about two hours in Microsoft Access. Problem is I had to write it in PHP (a language I don’t know) and host it on MySQL (a database platform I’ve never worked in before.) It’s like being in France, knowing you want to ask where the bathroom is, but having no idea what words to say. Fortunately, Dreamweaver is an awesome web development tool and there’s lots of PHP & MySQL help out on the web.
It’s a list of conservatives in power and their various “family values” style activities, like swindling, draft dodging, adultery, and divorce. It’s based on an original idea by bloggrrl Pam Spaulding over at Pam’s House Blend. The BETA version is up now; I’m still doing the data entry pages, so the list isn’t very big… yet.
