The BCS Remains a Stinky Situation (washingtonpost.com): Michael Wilbon of the Washington Post on this stupid college football BCS
All big-time college football needs is an eight-team playoff, which is half the size of the playoff in Division I-AA. Right now, in my playoff, No. 8 Louisville would play No. 1 USC, No. 7 Boise State would play No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 6 Utah would play No. 3 Auburn, No. 5 Texas would play No. 4 Cal, and each one of those matchups would take place in a different bowl game. The four winners would play two games in a doubleheader at yet another bowl site, and the semifinal winners would meet in the championship game.
BSU v. OU? On the one hand, BSU making the big time would be awesome (as well as the bowl payout). On the other hand, I hate to see my alma mater get creamed by forty points on national TV.
Hooray for my Perfect 2004 Boise State Broncos Football Team. 11-0! #10 in the polls, #9 in the BCS! Undefeated WAC conference champions three years in a row! The 2nd-highest scoring and yardage offense in the nation! The nation’s longest winning streak at 22 games (last loss 26-24 to Oregon State, 2003)! A home winning streak that dates back to when the World Trade Center was standing (25 games, last loss 42-14 to Washington State, 9/8/2001). And playing on New Years Eve against #10 Louisville (best scoring and yardage in the nation) in the Liberty Bowl!
To my homies who all went to University of Idaho and relentlessly dissed my Broncos when I was the school mascot alternate and the Vandals were kicking our ass in I-AA Big Sky Conference for thirteen years in a row…
Go! Orange!
Go Big Blue!
Fight! Fight!
BSU!
