ABC News: Berger Pleads Guilty to Taking Materials: Rather than the “honest mistake” he described last summer, Berger acknowledged to U.S. Magistrate Deborah Robinson that he intentionally took and deliberately destroyed three copies of the same document dealing with terror threats during the 2000 millennium celebration.
“Guilty, your honor,” Berger responded when asked how he pleaded.
Under Berger’s plea agreement, he’ll get a $10,000 fine and lose security clearance for three years. I only bring it up because back in August I had written “Oh, and about Sandy Berger. Turns out that he was completely exonerated of any wrongdoing. Funny how when a former Clinton Administration official is found innocent it’s not top-of-the-hour news.” So, if I’m going to be picking on the Shrub Maladministration, in the interest of fairness I must admit when I’m wrong about the Clinton Administration.
