I’ll be appearing live today at 2PM on Multnomah Community Television (Channel 11, Comcast Cable in the Portland Area) for the ORNORML Presents: A Cannabis Community Forum show. We’ll be discussing the sweeping new change to Oregon’s Medical Marijuana Law with the recent passage and signing of SB 1085 into law. The law now provides patients with the new limits of 6 mature cannabis plants (formerly 3), 18 starter plants (formerly 4, and now a “starter” is 12″ x 12″ x 12″ instead of the pathetically small and vulnerable seedlings we had before), and up to 24 ounces of usable marijuana. There are many more changes and we’ll be dicussing those with ORNORML Executive Director Madeleine Martinez and our Legal Counselor Paul Loney.
I’ll also be bringing up recent statements by former Deputy DEA Director Andrea Barthwell, who now suddenly thinks cannabinoids are a great medicine… now that she works for a pharmaceutical company looking to slap a bar code on and reap some profits from medical marijuana. We’ll also look at how marijuana is becoming more mainstreamed by shows like Showtime’s “Weeds”, HBO’s “Six Feet Under”, and Fox’s “That 70’s Show”.
Finally, we’ll be looking forward to the upcoming First Annual Portland Hempstalk, which opens up at 10AM next Saturday with music from my band, WeeDunno, and runs until midnight. We’ll have many speakers, booths, vendors, information, and activism. Be there at Tom McCall Waterfront Park this next Saturday!
