Usually when I do these political cartoons, I have to think up some outrageously snide satirical quote to put in the mouths of a Bush.
Not this time. Barbara Bush (the not young and hot one) actually said this shit regarding the evacuees who have fled the devastating loss of their homes, neighborhoods, and cities (emphasis mine).
HOUSTON, Texas (AP) — Former Presidents Bush and Clinton got smiles, hugs and requests for autographs when they met with refugees from Hurricane Katrina — but it was Bush’s wife who got attention for some of her comments.
Barbara Bush, who accompanied the former presidents on a tour of the Astrodome complex Monday, said the relocation to Houston is “working very well” for some of the poor people forced out of New Orleans.
“What I’m hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality,” she said during a radio interview with the American Public Media program “Marketplace.” “And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them.”
Ah, the one mouthpiece Rove never quite got under control, the matriarch of the Bush Crime Family, telling it like they see it. See, it’s not like they were washed out of palatial estate in Kennebunkport. They were living in tenements and slums in the worst neighborhoods of New Orleans, so a cot in a sport stadium shared with 20,000 other people is an upgrade. Oh, sure, they may have lost a friend or a family member or a pet to the waters that flooded New Orleans while her son played guitar and golfed and gave speeches comparing Iraq to WWII, but now that they’re experiencing the grace and hospitality of Texas, those petty concerns just melt away under the lights of the Astrodome.
Are you all getting it yet? The Bushes do not care about you little people (and I don’t mean midgets, though I doubt they care much about you, either). You don’t even get a shred of empathy until you’re playing in the seven-figure-income leagues.
If you still support George W. Bush, you are the Tin Man.
