Couple Arrested After Police Find Indoor Marijuana Growing Operation | Salem-News.Com: (Salem) — On Thursday morning, about 8:30 AM, Marion County Sheriff Street Crimes Detectives along with Patrol Deputies served a search warrant at 5744 36th Ave SE, Salem. The detectives discovered an indoor marijuana growing operation including 115 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of about $150,000.
52-yr old James Earl Hickam and 29-yr old Rebecca Hickam were arrested on charges of Manufacture, Distribution and Possession of a Controlled Substance and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor. Both lived at the 36th Ave address. Both were lodged at the Marion County Jail. The couple’s three-month-old infant son was present and is now in the custody of the Oregon Department of Human Services & Child Welfare.
Endangering the Welfare of a Minor? It’s not a highly explosive meth lab we’re talking about here. It’s a mutherfockin’ garden! How in the hell do you get child endangerment out of tending a garden…
…oh wait, it’s because the plant is illegal, therefore the cops just might have to bust down the door in a no-knock raid and shoot some of the kids, like 14-year-old Ashley Villareal, or 11-year-old Alberto Sepulveda, or the 8-year-old son of Bobby & Kathy Bowman.
