Gas station owners’ dilemma: too few twos – Thursday, 03/17/05
As gas prices top $2/gallon, many gas station owners are in a crunch because they don’t have enough two’s for their readerboards. How about just recalibrating the pumps to charge for gas by the liter? Whoops, sorry, my bad, that’s way too damn European. You could even make a tidy profit from ignorance of the metric system. Imagine the mayhem at the station that displays $0.69/L on their sign. Crowds of SUV-driving Americans lined up as far as the eye can see thinking they’re getting the sub-buck-a-gallon prices of yesteryear, only to find that they just dropped $2.65 per gallon on liter-priced gas.
