I was reading up on the Raich case on the D’Alliance blog when I came across this bit of humanitarianism from Jayne in the comments:
ha ha. Wow, you guys seem pretty bitter about the whole thing.

“ha ha”? Jayne, I would never wish you to contract breast cancer. I would never wish you to find yourself vomiting for days on end after your chemo treatments. I would never wish for you to try ever manner of anti-nausea medications, only to see them puked back up before they can be digested.
Furthermore, I would never wish for you to contract HIV. I would never wish for that to become full-blown AIDS. I would never wish for you to waste away, unable to mount any appetite, unable to keep down any foods you desperately force yourself to eat.
In addition, I would never wish you to contract multiple sclerosis. I would never wish for you, like talk-show host Montel Williams, to sufer debilitatingly painful neuropathy in your legs, the spasms and pain wracking your body day and night, leaving you unable to work or sleep. I would never wish for you a litany of heavy expensive precription narcotics, all of which do wonders for shutting down your bowels, destroying your liver, and turning you into a stupefied zombie unable to work, without making much of a dent in the pain.
No, Jayne, I would never wish any of these things upon you. For to do so would make me as much of a cruel, heartless, despicable bastard as you are.
