Utah’s Sen. Orrin Hatch has finally signed on to co-sponsor the Lynching Apology Resolution in the Senate (only days after it passed, but better late than never.) It’s fun to watch these clowns caving in to the public pressure, much of it brought on by the blogosphere.
But Sen. Gordon Smith (R-OR) still will not sign on. The only senator in the Pacific Northwest who thinks it unimportant to go on record apologizing for lynching. Only one of five Western senators who think it unneccessary to go on record apologizing for turning a blind eye to almost 5,000 racist murders of black men in the 20th century South.
For shame. Call Sen. Gordon Smith on it at 202-224-3753. Remind Sen. Gordon Smith that he can sign on even though it has already passed.
