My Mighty Green Bay Packers look mighty no more. They’ve lost top wide out Javon Walker for the season. Top tight end Bubba Franks was out with an injury. Our best safety, Darren Sharper, committed treason and joined the Vikings. Another bright spot on a sad defense, Bhawoh Jue, left, too. Two of Favre’s awesome linemen, Marco Rivera and Mike Wahle, bolted.
In last night’s game, two more linemen, Chad Clifton and Mike Flanagan, left with injuries. Ahman Green hurt his knee. And one of our few remaining wide outs, rookie Terrence Murphy, left the field strapped down to a stretcher.
And yet still, Brett Favre is awesome, leading his demoralized team back from a 32-13 deficit with four touchdown passes to a cast of “who dats?”, only to lose 32-29.
*Sigh* The bad news is the Packers are 0-4. The good news is that the best team in their division only has one win. The bad news is after the next game at home vs. the Saints, we have a BYE, and then Minnesota on the road, red hot Cincinnati on the road, Pittsburgh at home, Atlanta on the road, Minnesota at home, and Philadelphia on the road before we hit the December final push. We could very well be 2-9 by then.
The only other winless team in the NFL is the Houston Texans. They have a home game against Tennessee, a game they could conceivably win. Please, Packers, don’t be the last remaining oh-fer!
