I can’t stand it anymore. I’m coming out of retirement.
This election features marijuana votes in South Dakota, Montana, Arizona, New Jersey, and Mississippi, as well as medical mushrooms and decriminalized drugs in Oregon.
Meanwhile, I sit on the border of America’s Last Prohibition State — Idaho — the last place in the United States where possessing industrial hemp will get you a free ride in a cop car.
Here in Ontario, Oregon, we sit where Interstate 84 crosses the Snake River, forming the border with southwestern Idaho. The Boise metro area now numbers about 750,000 in population and the city itself is now larger than Salt Lake City. At least five dispensaries are open serving hundreds of Idahoans a day.
All of these factors, plus some gentle urging from fans and friends, have compelled me to revive The Russ Belville Show live marijuana podcast.
My first show will be live coverage of Marijuana Election Night 2020 on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. It will mark the tenth anniversary of my first Marijuana Election Night show at Oaksterdam in California for 2010’s ill-fated Prop 19. We’ll have interviews with state and national drug policy leaders and a few surprise guests.
But there’s more. In order to livestream, I’ve got to have a stream to be live on. My friends at 420RADIO are still running their stream out of Portland, and perhaps a replay of my show will return to that platform. In the meantime, I am generating a new stream on Shoutcast that will be called RadicalRuss Radio (you can find it online already, playing marijuana music for now, just search for “RadicalRuss”).
My new show will be a live weekly show, day of the week and time of day to be determined (I’m leaning toward Fridays at 4pm Mountain). The radio station will play marijuana music, flashbacks from my archive on interviews and events, replays of the weekly show, and maybe even other marijuana podcasts.
Eventually there will be a phone app for you to take RadicalRuss Radio on the go, as well as livestream players here on the website.
Wish me luck… here we go!
