The main thoroughfare through Grants Pass, Oregon, was lined for three blocks on both sides of the three-lane highway with protestors for the #NoKingsDay nationwide protest. Hundreds of pro-democracy demonstrators—perhaps over a thousand—filled the sidewalks in front of the Josephine County Courthouse.

Across the street at the county Republican Headquarters, a couple dozen pro-fascism counter-demonstrators waved the overpriced made-in-China TRUMP / MAGA merch they purchased out of some guy with a trailer a while back.

Unable to compete with the sheer number of pro-democracy demonstrators calling them out for their bootlicking support of a fascist dictator, some of the MAGA took to their gender-affirming pickup trucks to creep slowly through the thoroughfare and “roll coal”—the act of purposefully revving up the engine to produce thick black exhaust smoke—paying no heed to laws against that practice and the elderly, children, and disabled folks in the crowd overcome by their pollutants.

The crowd at today’s protest was at least twice as large as the May #NoKingsDay protest at this same location. Most of the MAGA counter-demonstrators gave up as the pro-democracy crowd began filling in on their side of the street. Even the “Homo Sex is Sin” and “Abortion is Murder” megaphone preachers found themselves shouted down by real Americans. There was, however, one proud bigot who kept marching his Trump Punisher Flag through the anti-fascist crowd.

As usual, the pro-democracy movement’s protest signs were colorful, creative, and hilarious. The gallery of nearly every sign I could find follows, but first, the awarding of medals to our contestants. Our Bronze Medal goes this wonderful older lady who remembers the last time we had a president this awful.

The Silver Medal goes to a Sixties-era young-blood protestor with a “Weird Al” Yankovic approach to our Executive Branch problems.

And our Gold Medal for Protest Sign that Made Me Laugh Out Loud was this Hispanic lady with the Pun of the Day!

Here are the rest of the brave and patriotic Oregonians who lined the streets in a county that voted 63% for Trump.
